I am 100% in charge” – Marcus Lemonis, The Profit

Have you ever watched this show?

Marcus says “I am 100% in charge” every time he invests in a business, even if he’s a minor owner. He comes in and takes charge.

Truth is, you are in 100% in charge of you.

Unfortunately, most people don’t realize this.

Your mood, your results, your reactions, your income, your wealth. You. 100%.

Stop letting The Drunk Monkey convince you that you are at the effect of the outside world.

You are the creator of your experience. That means you are 100% in charge of you.

Do you get how cool that is?

So, here’s my question; What you going to do today to be 100% in charge of the life you are living?

Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction mindset has the power to change your life.  But not if you are making these mistakes.  Shifting your mindset to utilize the perspective The Law of Attraction gives you helps you accomplish goals rapidly.  The experience is magical.  It feels like what you want just falls in your lap.  It feels effortless.  Unfortunately, it’s not easy to shift your mindset and get the Law of Attraction working in your favor.

Over the years, I’ve assisted thousands of people in adopting a mindset that utilizes the full power of The Law of Attraction.  One of the first steps on that journey is having an awareness of what isn’t working.  This enables you to let it go of what doesn’t work and do something different.  Awareness is the first step.  That’s the objective of this article.  There are 7 mistakes that people make when using The Law of Attraction.  If you can see them, then you can change your approach and get more fire power from The of Attraction in your goal achievement process.

Mistake #1 – Not being clear about what you want and why you want it.

Most people say, “That’s not a problem for me Matthew… I know exactly what I want!

  • I want more money
  • I want to be fit, thin and sexy
  • I want a new mate
  • I want a new job
  • I want a new car, a new house
  • I want to pay off all my debt

Yet, most people who say that to me are some version of fatter than they want to be, still a bit lonely, have more debt than they want and often times broke!  Unfortunately you don’t get what you want, you get what you are.  It’s really easy to see what you are committed to, just look at what you got.

The key is to understand why you want what you want.  Most of the time, it’s because you think you are broken and you need to be fixed.  If you are trying to fix your broken life, then you are focused on what’s wrong and you get more of that.  Sorry.  You get what you focus on.  What you focus on is your “state of being” or your essential nature.

Mistake #2 – You abandon your current situation to go after your new goal.

This is a fatal mistake because where you are is the perfect place to get what you want.  The people and circumstances of your life are the jumping point for what’s next.  Where you are, right now, contains the seeds necessary for your new goal to come true.  What you want is coming.  What you want, wants into your life.  But you must relax and enjoy where you are in order to attract what’s next.

Mistake #3 – You don’t tell anyone what your goals are for fear of being rejected.

The power to achieve your goals stems from the relationships you have in your life.  You can only do what the people around you expect.  You must get the important people up to date on what you are trying to accomplish.  Some might oppose it.  No big deal.  But most will just update their perspective about what you are all about.  That’s when the magic happens.  People will suddenly relate to you like you are doing this new thing.  Their expectations have them relate to you differently… And that causes them to naturally begin sending you the necessary information, people, opportunities and resources.

Mistake #4 – Your fear of not getting what you want becomes selfishness.

You kill your attraction power by worrying about yourself. If you focus is on solving your problems, you will accidentally speak in a self absorbed fashion.  Have you ever been around someone who was self absorbed?  Not attractive, right?  You must examine your attachments and release them.  Let go of the fearful visions of your goal not happening.  Practice giving The Gift and being a contribution and things will come to you much faster.

Mistake #5 – You become attached to getting the result and start freaking out.

You must learn to trust that all is well.  That what you want is coming.  You must practice knowing that things take as long as they take. You can only affect change by so much. You are in charge of the action, but the universe is in charge of the result and time frame.  When you get attached to the outcome, you accidentally believe that you are God and that you “should” be able to move the needle more than you are.  Of course, that’s not true.  You can do everything in your power to make stuff happen and it can still not happen.  It doesn’t mean that it isn’t.  Just means that you need more time, resources, creativity, or maybe a different perspective.  If you start freaking out and pushing and forcing, you will just make it worse.  You will slow it down more because your internal resources for intuition, creativity and reason will be diminished by your negative emotions.

Take some time today and notice where you are limiting your goal setting and law of attraction process with these 5 mistakes.  Love to hear your perspective in the comments  below.

A Cute Baby Boy Isolated on White.

Don’t freak out when your goals feel stuck.

Goal setting is tricky.  Sometimes your goals feel stuck.  Instead of freaking out, relax and keep doing what you are doing.  Sometimes your goals feel stalled but most often, they are just manifesting in the background.  The tendency is to get in action and try to make something happen.  But, there is no need to change things up until the perfect opportunity presents itself.  Just relax and the energy will start moving again.

In other words… Don’t push or force it.

Everyone I’ve ever worked with, gets stuck when they freak out and start pushing.  You push because you get scared that your goal is not coming.  Unfortunately, when you assume it’s not coming and you start getting scared, you can accidently change your actions to make sure it doesn’t.

“The law of attraction tells us that you get what you focus on.”

When goal doesn’t feel like it’s happening, it makes you frustrated and you push more.  Pushing can start to make your life feel miserable.  Life starts to feel like an uphill battle.  Suddenly… You lose faith, which feels really bad.  It can lead to a real low point, some anxiety and sometimes even anger.

The Drunk Monkey might shout at you, “Why Me!!  How come my dreams don’t come true!!”

Try This Instead:

Goal setting is a dance with world of reality and dreams.  Give up forcing your goals to happen and just focus on what you appreciate & what you are grateful for today.  It will bring you back into balance.  You will get more energy.

This is more about the perspective you have rather than the actions.  Just stay in the flow, trusting that all is well…Trusting that everything you want is coming to you.  Not because you actually know that it is.  But because, very simply, everything you have in your life today was something you were focused on in the past.

Know that you are blessed and your thoughts become things.  From that perspective, get ready for the energy and enthusiasm to return.  Then simply invest that renewed energy in the pursuit of the goal.

Take action.  Just don’t take action from fear, force, pushing and doubt.  Instead get back to your optimistic place.  Then take action from there.

“Have you set your goals yet?”
“What are they?”
“How are they coming along?”
“Why don’t you set bigger goals?”
Any of this sound familiar?
If you’ve done any personal development work, you know the routine.
  1. You set goals.
  2. You achieve some of them (you hardly acknowledge it).
  3. You don’t achieve others (you beat yourself up…).
  4. Then, you set the same goal (or some version of it) again.
This is the typical way.
And, it works…. kinda.
Today I want to give you the inside track on setting and achieving goals.
It’s the ins and outs of making sure you actually get what you want.
Here’s what you need to know:
Goals tend to be “fix it” in nature. “I am going to make this much money, so I don’t have to _________” (fill in thing you want to avoid).
Or, they tend to be “when I get that then________” (fill in thing you want) in nature.
Most likely you are setting goals that are ‘in order to.’
In order to look good, I have to lose X pounds.
In order to feel safe, I have make X dollars.
You get the idea.
So, you set your goals around benchmarks that you think will produce the result you want.
And that’s the problem.
You want more freedom. So, you set a big income goal.
Then you dominate yourself with work, obligations and responsibilities that strip your freedom, all in an effort to make more money, and be free.
Are you seeing the problem here?
Goals become the prison that keeps you from actually having the thing you think the goal will deliver.
So, how do we unravel this mess?
Set intentions.
Intentions are what you actually want… the experience you want to have.
It’s like this: I have an intention to drive X car, live in X house, etc.
But really, all those things do is make me feel a certain way.
When I align my thoughts with the feelings… the experience of life that these things provide… then my income naturally goes up, or I start to eat healthier, or I take whatever action promotes the intention I have set.
Suddenly, new opportunities coming that are aligned with those intentions.
That’s when things start to get really fun.
I know it seems like we are splitting hairs. But stay with me here.
When you intend for something to happen, you are not attached. (THIS IS THE SECRET SAUCE!)
You are interested and curious about that thing happening, but you aren’t in a pushing, grinding, forcing mode.
And that’s key.
Because when you are forcing and pushing for your goals to happen, you actually kill off the energy that attracts them to you.
I know it sounds weird. But I have an extreme level of mastery around this process, and I really want you to as well.
So, today consider reworking your goals… and creating intentions instead.
The more you focus on the kinds of experiences you want, the more flexible you are about how they come about.
And in the end, you get everything you really want.

Let’s do this.
